Powerful Typhoon Tomas Intensifies, Threatens Philippines Anew

Another powerful typhoon threatens Philippines anew. Typhoon Tomas intensifies as it moves closer to the country. Although it will not hit the mainland, Tomas will still affect Luzon.

Tropical storm Man-yi, which will be named "Tomas" once it enters PAR, may enter the Philippines either on Sunday, Nov. 25, or Monday, Nov. 26, 2018.

Typhoon Man-Yi (34W) analysis

The latest satellite imagery shows the outer rainbands of Typhoon Man-Yi approaching the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

If the weather disturbance enters PAR, it will be named Tomas. Man-yi might not make landfall, but could still change its course.

Currently moving west-northwest at a speed of 55 km/h. Central pressure: 985 hPa

If it will get closer to Luzon (based on the forecast provided by JMA) Typhoon Man-Yi (34W) could bring heavy rain and strong winds to the eastern section of North Luzon and later on extreme North Luzon.

Those living in Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Quirino, Isabela, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte should monitor the situation and be prepared if Typhoon Man-Yi will change its course and move closer to the Philippines.
