Photos of BSU Students in Madlum River in Bulacan Incident Goes Viral

Photos of BSU Students crossing Madlum River in Bulacan incident that left 7 students dead became viral and trending online. Survivors posted the video in social networking websites of 9 students crossing the river  when they were swept away by raging water.

Nine Bulacan State University (BSU) students were crossing the Madlum River on Tuesday when a heavy downpour caused the water to rise quickly. The 9 were trapped in the middle of the raging Madlum River and were swept away. Photos from their surviving classmates show their last moments before some of them perished.

Six students have already been confirmed dead. Yesterday (Tuesday), four bodies were found. They were identified as Michael Alcantara, Michelle Banzil, Helena Marcelo and Sean Alejo.

Earlier today, the lifeless bodies of Janet Rivera and Madel Navarro were found. One is still missing - former EB Babe Maiko Bartolome. The search for her resumes tomorrow.

Two of the nine survived after being rescued on Tuesday.

According to the survivors, the nine students were crossing the river when raging waters swept them off their raft. In the photo, the nine students can be seen huddled in a shallow part of the Madlum River as the water raged around them. But the trapped students had nowhere to go and soon, they were swept away by the currents.

Compare the photos above to a picture of the normally calm river. According to locals, the Madlum River turns into a raging river after a heavy downpour upstream.

Meanwhile, the families of the victims are mulling charges against Bulacan State University officials while the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) will investigate the accident.
