In the episode of the Kapamilya series aired on April 17, the widowed businessman portrayed by Richard Yap is seen uttering the three words as he looked in the direction of the nanny-turned-flight attendant portrayed by Jodi Sta. Maria.
Richard Lim, fondly called "Sir Chief" by Maya, was hugging his daughter Abby (Mutya Orquia) when he said "I love you," which appeared to be directed at his former nanny who was looking on.
Pinoy netizens who watched the episode Wednesday were quick to celebrate the moment as the first time Sir Chief finally professed his love to Maya -- which is seen as yet another "milestone" for the characters, after their Twitter-trending first "kiss" and first date.
The "I love you" scene came after Sir Chief asked Maya to reconsider her decision to stay away from him, out of concern about the effect of their blooming relationship on his three children.
The slow unfolding of the love story of the two characters has already spanned nine months to date, with an extension of the top-rating series reported to be in the works.
