Kris not resigning, will 'take a leave instead'
Her surprise resignation from ABS-CBN made headlines, but "Queen of All Media" Kris Aquino has decided not to drop everything amid recent controversies.
"After thorough discussions, Kris has agreed to take a leave instead," ABS-CBN Integrated Corporate Communication head Bong Osorio said in a statement Wednesday, April 17.
The leave, Osorio said, will allow Kris to spend time with her youngest son Bimby during his school break and to bring Josh abroad "to advance his developmental progress."
"After her leave, Kris will honor her responsibilities and will fulfill her contractual commitments to ABS-CBN without impairing her role as a mother," he added.
The presidential sister has surprised everyone when she announced her resignation from all her shows on March 21 to spare her sons from controversies.
Kris has recently figured in another legal battle with her ex-husband, basketball star James Yap, whom she accused of making sexual advances.
ABS-CBN however said she has to fulfill her commitments to her shows, including "Pilipinas Got Talent" and "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw."
After a vacation from Paris, Kris immediately went back to her shows, including her morning talk show "Kris TV."
"ABS-CBN fully understands Kris' desire to be the best mother to Bimby and Josh," the network statement read.
It nonetheless noted that its management "values Kris as an iconic talent and a respected national media personality."
"Both parties recognize her responsibilities to the public, her co-workers and to the advertisers," ABS-CBN said.
